Front Yard Garden Bed Install That Earns Its Curb Appeal

A good-looking front yard doesn't just happen. It starts with someone actually thinking through what goes where - the right plants for the space, a bed shape that works with the property, and materials that hold up over time. That's the difference between a yard that looks polished and one that just looks like stuff was planted.

Here's what we were working with on this one - a patch of lawn along the driveway that wasn't doing much for the property. We cut out the sod, shaped a natural bed edge into the soil, and brought in a fresh layer of dark mulch to set the stage. From there it was about laying the plants out in-pot first, adjusting the spacing, and making sure everything made sense before a single hole was dug.

The plant selection on this one was intentional. Lavender, ornamental grasses, salvia, and asters, plus a weeping tree as the centrepiece and a few well-placed boulders to ground it all. That mix gives the bed structure through multiple seasons without needing constant attention. It's the kind of garden installation that looks great right away and gets better as it fills in.

What we love about this type of work is how much the finished product changes the feel of the whole property. A clean, planted bed along the driveway entrance pulls everything together - it gives the home a defined, intentional look that's hard to fake with quick fixes.
