Some spaces have great bones - they just need the right foundation to bring them to life. That's exactly what we were working with here. A beautiful multi-trunk tree anchoring a corner bed, but the ground beneath it was bare, rough, and doing nothing for the overall look. Good structure deserves a good supporting cast.
We started by cutting in clean, curved bed lines that follow the natural shape of the space. That alone makes a huge difference. From there, we laid down fresh dark mulch and got to work selecting plants that would layer well together - ferns for texture, low catmint in blue-purple, deep burgundy heuchera, ornamental grasses, and allium to add those bold round pops of color. Each plant was chosen with the full picture in mind.
What we ended up with is a bed that already looks intentional and full, even right after install. That's the thing about good plant selection - you don't have to wait years to feel like something is actually there. But the real payoff comes later. These plants will spread, the ferns will fill in, the grasses will mature, and the color layering will get richer every season.
This is what garden installation done right looks like. It's not just about dropping plants in the ground. It's about thinking through scale, texture, color, and how the whole thing holds together over time. Pair that with proper mulch depth and clean edges, and you've built something that's genuinely low maintenance going forward - and genuinely worth looking at every day.
